BIO 

VALYA was born in Volyn Region, Ukraine.

She has a Master of Art and Design from Lviv Academy of Decorative Art.

For many years VALYA was one of the top designers in the textile industry in Ukraine Republic, USSR. She won many contests in textile design and received several official awards.

From 1997 through 2000 VALYA was a successful professor, Head of Department of The Management of Fashion Business at Kiev National University of Culture and Art. 

Since 2000, VALYA has been living in California. In 2006 she opened her studio in Oceanside, CA USA. Since than VALYA’s artworks have been exhibited extensively in museums, biennials, galleries nationally and internationally. 

Currently VALYA is represented by TSECH gallery, Kyiv, Ukraine.

Her work has been published in the anthologies: “UKRAINIAN ART OF XX TH CENTURY” and “DECORATIVE ART OF UKRAINE OF THE END OF XX th CENTURY. The 200 Names”.

VALYA has received several awards, including Brakensiek Caught Eye Award at Oceanside Museum of Art; Honorable Mention at Kaunas Biennial TEXTILE’ 11, Lithuania and Best of the Show at Annual exhibition of Art and Design, Kiev, Ukraine

Her work may be found in the permanent collections of The Ukrainian Museum, New York, USA; Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum, Lviv, Ukraine; The National Museum of Decorative Art, Lviv, Ukraine;  The Museum of Academy of Decorative Art, Lviv, Ukraine; Museum of Modern Ukrainian Decorative Art, Khmelnytsk, Ukraine and also in various private collection all over the world.
